E18 Hamina bypass

National highway 7 is part of European route 18 (E18), which interconnects the largest cities, harbours and airports of South Finland.

E18 is Finland’s most important international connection, and the Hamina bypass road project has been an integral part of upgrading E18 into a motorway. The Hamina ring road removed the last remaining through traffic route from E18 whilst significantly improving traffic flow and safety.

E18 Hamina bypass road is a 15 km ring road on the north side of the city of Hamina. The new road connection serves both national and international traffic as well as transportation via the Port of Hamina-Kotka.

The E18 Hamina bypass road project was completed in autumn 2015. The costs were 170 million euros, which includs TEN-T support 4,8 million euros and the share of Hamina city 4,5 million euros.
