The canal connects Keitele and Kuhnamojärvi. The 500 m-long canal was built in 1990-93.
Self-service lock with control and access from the central control room.
Paatela Canal is in service use. Lock functions are controlled from the Paatela control room. When approaching from below, the locking call point is at the waiting pier on the left, and when approaching from above, these are on the waiting pier on the right. Follow instructions provided on the information board and traffic lights.
Please note: The water discharging from the lock causes currents all the way to the waiting pier in the lower canal , so your boat must be attached to the platform carefully. During the locking process, while the lock is filled with water, waves are created that boaters must prepare for. When going up, attach to the floating bollard on the side of the lower gate.
