Environment
The objective of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (FTIA) is to develop and maintain a functional, safe and sustainable transport system.
The environmental issues which are of particular importance to FTIA's operations include climate change mitigation and adaptation, protection of soil and groundwater, managing noise and vibrations, protecting the Baltic Sea, and ensuring good air quality. We also produce significant positive impacts through the protection of biodiversity, landscapes and the cultural environment, minimisation of natural resource consumption and protection of surface waters.
The FTIA's environmental work is guided by the Finnish Transport Agency's environmental policy, which was adopted in 2014. The agency’s environmental programme is regularly updated and provides clarification on environmental policy and guidance for practical environmental work.
