Digiroad transitions from the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency to Fintraffic on 1 January 2026

Digiroad will come under Fintraffic’s responsibility on 1 January 2026, after which the planning and implementation of the system that will replace Digiroad will begin. The planning and implementation will proceed in phases, so follow our communication channels to stay informed about changes.

Digiroad operations during the transition period

During the transition period, Digiroad’s processes will largely function as they do now. Exceptions: Digiroad’s Street Project Notification, Municipal maintenance reports. In addition, the operator’s data processing will be reduced.

Street Project Notification

Submitting street project information via the online form will end in its current form on 1 January 2026. The National Land Survey of Finland will explore development possibilities for the current solution regarding municipal street project notifications. Planning for the continuation of operations will start in January 2026.

Municipal maintenance reports

These reports will also end in their current form early in the year. Future data quality assurance processes will be examined alongside planning for the future.

Communication

Current Digiroad communication channels: Monthly newsletter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Notices related to the Digiroad application. These channels will change in the future, so it is important to follow them. We will inform you there about where Digiroad communication will be available going forward.

Stop data

Stop data will be transferred to a new stop and accessibility database: Under the new legislation (992/2025), the management and API use of stop data for all modes of transport will gradually move to the new stop and accessibility database: https://peti.fintraffic.fi/ui (PETI). Using this database and publishing data (e.g., as part of travel information) will be mandatory for operators.

Stop maintenance in Digiroad is planned to end by 30 April 2026. We recommend contacting Fintraffic early in the year ([email protected]) to obtain access rights to the new national connection point register. Municipalities and especially public transport authorities are encouraged to maintain up-to-date stop data in their own planning systems during the transition period.

Instructions for the new stop and accessibility database can be found on Fintraffic’s website. The schedule for the transfer and the actions expected from operators will also be published on Fintraffic’s system-related web pages: https://www.fintraffic.fi/fi/digitaalisetpalvelut/fintrafficin-datapalvelut/liikkumisen-tietopalvelut/peti. We will provide updates on the transfer project and related matters on this page and through Digiroad’s communication channels.
