These three-dimensional landscape models portray the development of land and water traffic throughout Finland’s period of independence: in the years 1917, 1967 and 2017, respectively. A single imaginary Finnish municipality is shown in these years, where the landscape and single objects are depicted as realistically as possible. It is described how traffic has developed from church boats and cartways to the intelligent traffic systems of today. The development of the roads, railways and waterways is also displayed.
There are many interesting details, both for children and adults. The miniature model trains, representing the different eras, move automatically. The miniature models have a scale of 1:87.
The dioramas and their presentation texts are displayed at several public events around Finland in 2017 and 2018. Tour schedule for summer 2017:
