The event will take place this weekend from 31 March–2 April in Enontekiö, and it has been arranged by the municipality of Enontekiö, the Finnish Transport Agency, the ELY Centre for Lapland and Aurora—the arctic testing ecosystem for intelligent transport systems with a collaboration network of over 50 members. Ultrahack, an international innovation platform that organises hackathons, or software development contests, is responsible for the practical implementation of the contest.
"We expect contestants to present top-notch ideas and implementations that can be used in real life. In addition to automated driving, various methods and technology for managing intelligent infrastructure assets are now being tested in the testing ecosystem Aurora. Ideally, the generated ideas will promote development of the business activities of Finnish companies and take the testing of intelligent transport systems in arctic conditions to a new level", says Jaakko Ylinampa, Director of Transport and Infrastructure at the ELY Centre for Lapland. Mr Ylinampa will be leading the Hackathon jury.
The teams entering the contest will be able to use the latest technology in the field (for example, a LiDaR remote sensing device and the latest camera and drone technology).
