The canal together with the Kerma Canal and Vihovuonne Cannal connects Lakes Kermajärvi and Joutsenvesi. The 250-metre canal was built in 1903-04.
Self-service lock. When approaching from below, the self-service starter cord and instructions for its use are on the right side, and when approaching from above, these are on the upper canal’s pier to the right.
Passenger vessels travelling according to a timetable have right of way to the canal. Other vessel traffic must give passenger vessels unobstructed access. The self-service access point has a canal-specific schedule for passenger vessels.
