Mooring: Three floating bollards on the west side of the lock chamber, one on the east side. Hanging ropes on the sides of the lock.

The canal connects Lake Kuhnamojärvi and Lake Vatianjärvi. The 300 m-long canal was built in 1990–93. Self-service lock with remote monitoring and access from Paatela.

When approaching from below, the self-service stater cord and instructions for its use are on the right side, when approaching from above, these are on the upper canal’s pier to the right. After starting the self-service, follow the instructions provided on the information board and traffic lights.

Please note: Water discharging from the rapids below the canal causes transverse flow, which boaters must avoid.
