New chart Gulf of Finland - Archipelago Sea published
Wall Map 950 is a new product covering the sea areas in the Gulf of Finland, the Archipelago Sea and the Sea of Åland. The largest nautical chart in the world, 200 square metres, was based on the material in this map. It can be seen at the Vene Båt fair at Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre 6-15.2.2015.
The Finnish Transport Agency has responded to the customers' feedback by publishing a new wall map (scale 1:250 000) covering the Gulf of Finland, the Archipelago Sea and the Sea of Åland. The map provides a general view of the area and is intended to support, for example, in planning and operational activities. The map will not be continuously updated and is therefore not intended for navigational use.
This new product is meant to replace the wall map Tukholma - Pietari 1:200 000 (Stockholm - St. Petersburg), published in 1999, which is still used by numerous maritime actors. The contents of the new wall map correspond to that of the general charts, and the data on the fairway network, separation zones and lighthouse silhouettes in the sea area has been updated.
The map is available in two versions. One version is printed on cardboard and split into four sheets to be pieced together to form a 271 x 100 cm map.
The other version is printed in one piece on a high-quality, weather-and tear-resistant, matt surface plastic material, whose material and colour is highly UV-resistant. The size of this print is also 271 x 100 cm.
The largest nautical chart in the world, 200 square metres, was based on this wall map material. The map is displayed in the Gallery passage at the Vene Båt fair at Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre. The Finnish Transport Agency’s stand is in section 7 a 31.
The nautical charts are sold by Karttakeskus Oy and approved resellers.
