Building of the new road network data system started in October, and it is estimated to be completed in three years. The new system will replace the old road register, among other things. The project also involves creating a data warehouse for plans and implementation models serving all modes of transport.
“From now on, we will have better access to data produced during the planning and construction phases as well as to data collected on the roads”, says Project Manager Mika Stenmark at the Finnish Transport Agency.
The development budget of the project is five million euro. The first objectives will be implemented next year. The contract also includes an option of a five-year maintenance contract.
